Maintenance Manager / Supervisor
Summary : The Maintenance Manager / Supervisors primary responsibility is to perform maintenance in an industrial processing plant. Will ensure equipment is functioning correctly, schedule pm’s, repairs or upgrades. This position communicates ideas and plans with the Maintenance Manager to maximize performance and help control the maintenance budget. Will supervise employees while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment while following SOP’s and complying with legal codes and regulations. This is a hands-on position with the expectation that the Maintenance Supervisor will assist in all maintenance functions. We operate 24/7 therefore the Maintenance Supervisor must be available as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Accomplishes maintenance objectives by assisting in selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling, employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions;; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Meets maintenance operational standards by contributing maintenance information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems.
  • Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifying problems and requirements.
  • Maintains function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by monitoring a preventive maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.
  • Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions, and additions.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.


  • Must have the ability to perform maintenance in a fast paced, high volume production/distribution facility. Must have experience including PLC, electrical, and conveyor maintenance.
  • Performs all assignments safely, participates in creating a safe work environment within the work place by participating in safety training and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Performs routine inspections, preventive/predictive maintenance, trouble shooting, repairs and replacements, on all pumps, valves/actuators, gear reducers, agitators, air compressors, boiler and controls such as pneumatic and electrical up to and including 480 volts, repairs and replacement on electrical motors from 1/3 hp to 350 hp. Troubleshooting, repairing and installing steam systems and boilers.
  • Install large diameter pipe (stainless steel, carbon steel, PVC and CPVC), welding and cutting, fitting, threading, w/stainless experience desirable.
  • Understands and utilizes a variety of equipment and tools in the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, pneumatic control devices. Install and troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFD) and programmable logic controllers.
  • Performs basic rigging and scaffolding activities.
  • Operates plant fixed and mobile crane/hoist, fork truck equipment as qualified
  • Performs TIG, MIG, Stick & ARC) and electric arc welding, cutting, fitting and threading. Utilizes power hand and fixed shop tools in the performance of the work.
  • Reads and understands blueprints for the purpose of lay out and performance of work. Makes necessary sketches and drawing for communication to others and documentation
  • Reports and documents abnormal conditions and records information in the equipment history files.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Occasionally performs other work as assigned.
  • Documents maintenance activities, maintaining EPA records and assists engineering

Overtime requirements for this job include: Working beyond regular working hours as necessary, responding favorably to call outs at night or on weekends.

Education: Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education and/or a technical trade, certification (millwright, electrician, welder, pipe-fitter, etc.).

Pertinent and Proven Previous Experience: Two years experience in maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, compressors, etc.), Welding knowledge and experience on carbon/stainless steel is a plus.

Computer Skills: Must have the ability to learn and work effectively with the plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS). (Siemens PCS7 experience a plus), HART Communicator, Mapcon, Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.

Physical Requirements: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lb, must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations up to 175 feet.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions. The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.

Grain Commodity Merchandiser 
Summary: This position is responsible and accountable for daily trading activity while developing and supporting relationships with the customer base. The position will be required to identify and execute trading strategies for both internal production requirements as well as evaluate, develop, leverage DDGS trading opportunities, and implement new trading programs and patterns.  The position will coordinate risk management, freight, negotiate with customers, and manage cash flow and credit requirements. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, A/R, A/P, month-end variances, freight variances, over-fills/under-fills and assistance on annual budget forecast.  The position will report to the President.

·         Practice functions directly related to trading cash/physical commodities to include the purchase, sale, logistics, and account management.
·         Collaborate with grain merchandisers on a daily basis to understand and communicate market values.
·         Prospect and develop new trading customers.
·         Identify, develop, and manage strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
·         Coordinate with operations to manage positions and inventories. 
·         Analyze markets and identify market trends and positions assigned to maximize profitability.
·         Maintain cash usage within the business while maintaining margins.
·         Work on customer credit guidelines and collect funds due in a timely manner.
·         Maximize profits by providing innovative solutions.
·         Work closely with grain personnel (i.e., merchandisers, accounting, scale operator, logistics).
·         Make decisions and work independently as well as positively contributing to a team environment.
·         Fill in as needed for other team members.
·         The employee may be required to work nights and weekends as needed.

·         Grain Ethanol and industry knowledge.
·         Understanding of basic trading fundamentals and terminology of cash commodities and Futures market.
·         Strong negotiation skills required and proven ability to achieve sales goals.
·         Experience in all aspects of Customer Relationship Management.
·         Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics.
·         Willingness to work with a team of professionals.
