Commodity Merchandiser

Reports To: Grain Manager

 

Summary: This position is responsible and accountable for daily trading activity while developing and supporting relationships with the customer base. The position will be required to collect, compile, and analyze information regarding market conditions.  The position will coordinate risk management, freight, customer needs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, A/R, A/P, month-end variances, freight variances, over-fills/under-fills and assistance on annual budget forecast.  The position will report to the Grain Manager. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Practice functions directly related to trading cash/physical commodities to include the purchase, sale, logistics, and account management. Collaborate with grain merchandisers on a daily basis to understand and communicate market values. Prospect and develop new trading customers. Manage strong relationships with customers and suppliers. Coordinate with operations to manage positions and inventories. Analyze markets and identify market trends and positions assigned to maximize profitability. Work on customer credit guidelines and collect funds due in a timely manner. Maximize profits by providing innovative solutions. Work closely with grain personnel (i.e., merchandisers, accounting, scale operator, logistics). Work independently as well as positively contributing to a team environment. Fill in as needed for other team members. The employee may be required to work nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred Skills/Attributes
Grain Ethanol and industry knowledge. Understanding of basic trading fundamentals and terminology of cash commodities and Futures market. Strong negotiation skills required and proven ability to achieve sales goals. Experience in all aspects of Customer Relationship Management. Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics. Willingness to work with a team of professionals. Ability to maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values. Builds trust, values others, communicates effectively, drives execution, demonstrates high integrity, and fosters innovation.

Working Environment
The employee will be regularly exposed to dusty conditions, high noise environments and occasionally exposed to outside weather in all conditions. 

Lab Technician

Reports To: Compliance Manager

Summary:  Working under the Compliance Manager, responsible for implementing the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program for the ethanol plant to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in implementing plant QA/QC program. Implements plant QA/QC program based on best practice in the ethanol industry by sampling various points in the process and conducting QA/QC tests as required. Monitors use and inventories of laboratory chemicals and supplies. Operates, maintains, and calibrates laboratory equipment. Prepares reports, analyzes data and makes recommendations for adjusting process conditions to ensure that QA/QC standards are met.

Maintains safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the QA/QC laboratory are met at all times. Participates in the safety program for the QA/QC laboratory. Assist to coordinates activities with other departments. Communicates directly with production department to ensure effective participation by the process operators in the implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures.

Other:
Implements programs and procedures required to ensure laboratory and plant cleanliness. 

Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience:  The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below.  Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Entry level position for a QA/QC laboratory in a process industry. Entry level with implementing effective QA/QC programs. Entry level with automated laboratory equipment (such as HPLC, GC, IC, Karl Fischer, Shimadzu). 
Associate’s degree from two-year college in a related scientific or technical field a plus.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.

Must have the ability to work effectively with computerized laboratory equipment. 

Physical Requirements:
The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations greater than 175 feet.

Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to extremely dusty conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions. The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.


Operator In Training

Reports To: Assistant Operations Manager
 
Summary: Responsible for efficient cleaning and organizing of plant, acting as a resource for all departments that may need assistance, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. The goal of the Operator in Training is to prepare individuals for a career as plant operator.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Plant Sanitation
Spraying down floors
Rolling up hoses
Spill clean up
Assist maintenance department in maintenance as necessary
Assist maintenance department and operations department in sweeping and cleaning of grain bins
All cleaning that the operations manager needs completed
 
Office Sanitation
Sweeping and mopping floors
Wiping down surfaces
Cleaning kitchen equipment in break area
All cleaning that the operations manager needs completed
 
Equipment
Operate fork lift for moving chemical totes
Operate skid steer for cleaning purposes
Front loader for cleaning purposes
 
Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience. The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Front End Loader, Track Mobile, Skid Steer (Heavy Equipment) Experience in Farming a plus. Mechanical ability a plus.
 
Physical Requirements:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 Lbs.
