Lead Operator - Ethanol Experience Required

Summary: The Senior Operator is responsible for the operation of the plant, working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company while exhibiting excellent leadership skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitors and controls plant operations.
  • Constantly reviews the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Performs plant inspections; including walking through the entire plant on each shift while looking and listening for equipment and process issues.
  • Communicates in a timely manner with appropriate people regarding operating conditions that need attention on each shift and follows up with supervisor/manager as needed.
  • Reacts quickly to problem situations and to directions given by management.
  • Displays ability to provide clear and concise directions to others.
  • Verbally communicates with other shifts regarding operating situations and plant status at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Maintains adequate records of key production variables such as production volume, yield, plant uptime, utility consumption, etc., on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, as required.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance program.
  • Communicates directly with laboratory to ensure effective participation in the implementation of QA policies and procedures.
  • Samples and tests process streams as required by the QA program and procedures.
  • Maintains QA records.
  • Understands and interprets QA results and takes appropriate action when required.
  • Makes extra checks on problem areas and adjust plant for optimization and test sample gathering.
  • Participates in plant maintenance program.
  • Communicates directly with the maintenance department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
  • Performs preventive maintenance activities as required.
  • Assists maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs.
  • Assists with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues.
  • Participates in safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Knows and understands city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to process operations and works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times.
  • Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Monitors use and inventories of process chemicals and supplies.

Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience . The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High school diploma.
  • Post-secondary education and /or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
  • Previous experience in ethanol, chemical, oil refining or other similar processes necessary.

Computer Skills :

  • Must have the ability to learn and work effectively with the plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50#.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations 175 feet.

Working Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
  • The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
  • Evaluates and inspects all maintenance projects to ensure safety.
  • Assists maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs.
  • Assists with diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance related issues.

Participates in safety, health and environmental programs.

  • Monitors all environmental parameters.
  • Ensures that all incident reports are completed and transmitted.

Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience . The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High school diploma.
  • Post secondary education, engineering degree, and /or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in the operation of a drymill ethanol plant, or process manufacturing facility, Delta T experience a plus.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.

  • Must have the ability to learn and work effectively with the plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets is an asset.

Operator In Training 

Summary: Responsible for efficient cleaning and organizing of plant, acting as a resource for all departments that may need assistance, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. The goal of the Operator in Training is to prepare individuals for a career as plant operator.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Plant Sanitation
Spraying down floors
Rolling up hoses
Spill clean up
Assist maintenance department in maintenance as necessary
Assist maintenance department and operations department in sweeping and cleaning of grain bins
All cleaning that the operations manager needs completed
 
Office Sanitation
Sweeping and mopping floors
Wiping down surfaces
Cleaning kitchen equipment in break area
All cleaning that the operations manager needs completed
 
Equipment
Operate fork lift for moving chemical totes
Operate skid steer for cleaning purposes
Front loader for cleaning purposes
 
Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience. The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Front End Loader, Track Mobile, Skid Steer (Heavy Equipment)
Experience in Farming a plus.
Mechanical ability a plus.

Grain Assistant

Part-Time Grain Assistant. Duties include weighing of inbound/outbound grain trucks and grading of corn. We will train to grade grain, weigh trucks and run other tests. Excellent customer service skills, communication skills, multi-tasking, detailed and accurate record keeping are required. Customer contact skills are necessary as well as some basic administrative experience. Additional duties will include answering phones, greeting vendors, running errands and other miscellaneous duties.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, be able to stand and be physically active for extended periods of time. The employee will be exposed to dusty conditions, broken and damaged corn, bugs etc. The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.

Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30AM-12:30PM
